Franz von Stuck - Sensuality
Sensuality is one of the early versions of this theme, to which he returned many times. His best-known and fascinating painting entitled Sin from 1892 had an influence on the understanding of morality in the society of his time. Von Stuck provokes with traditional biblical symbols nrepresented by Eve and the Serpent, which he merely shifts to the level of evil and sin. The motif of the splendid body of the femme fatale with the phallic symbolism of the Serpent is a fetish of sexual desire, which, together with seductive glances, reveals the foundations of temptation and the road to damnation.
