Oskar Kokoschka - Cat
Oskar Kokoschka depicted two lithographs featuring a cat which resembled a predatory tiger: in 1969, which is the date of this print’s origin, and then in 1975 when he produced a multi-coloured version. In Oskar Kokoschka’s oeuvre, prints featuring animals, such as the Ancestor of the Fish and the Cat and the Tiger, oscillate between the symbolic reference and sensual depiction of animal instincts.
