Jean Louis Roullet - engraver, Ciro Ferri - inventor - Servat tutela Draconis
The print has been dated as between 1673, when Roullet arrived in Rome, and 1674, when the book accompanied by this work was published. The subject of the engraving remains unclear. Some scholars opine that it is Hannibal’s dream, others suggest that it is the Dignity of the Borghese Family. This work by Roullet ranks among the prints that perfectly reflect the artistic expression of Ciro Ferri. In this sense, it compares to even the most excellent works by Johann Greuter and François Spierre.
