Jean-Baptiste Chatelain - engraver, Gaspard Dughet - inventor - Landscape with Castle
Gaspard Dughet (1615 Rome-1675 Rome) was Poussin’s countryman, brother-in-law and pupil and also used the artist’s name. Under Poussin’s guidance, Dughet became a major 17th-century landscape painter. Poussin, also a brilliant landscape painter, always included figures in his landscape compositions. Dughet’s sceneries from the Rome area were particularly popular in 18th-century England, where his work was reproduced in dozens of prints.
