Bokukei Kojima

Bokukei Kojima - Virtue (Toku)
The calligraphy „Virtue“ by Bokukei Kojima is loosely inspired by characters found on oracular bones kōkotsumoji. This distinctive solitary piece is characterized by liveliness and dynamism. The irregularly placed segmented strokes, created through brief contact between brush and surface, contrast with semi-dry brush strokes, adding texture to the artwork and creating the impression of light reflected in the character and enhancing its meaning. The calligraphy was donated to the National Gallery by the Czech-Japanese society.
