Black glazed stoneware was produced also in Northern China during the Song dynasty and is sometimes referred to as „Henan temmoku“. Its characteristics include black glazes with rusty patches. The repertoire of shapes is considerably wider in the North than the varieties produced in Southern kilns: apart from bowls, it comprises also vases and ewers.
