Palác Kinských (The Kinsky Palace)

Built 1755‒1765, authors Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer and Anselmo Lurago, Baroque and Classicist architecture

Used by the National Gallery since 1949

The palace represents Prague´s rich architectural history. In its basement are remains of Romanesque and Gothic work while the current form of the main wing facing the square is an example of high Baroque, on the front façade with Rococo elements. The large ground plan of the palace which includes two courtyards extends as far as the Týnská street. Its inner and rear parts have several times been reconstructed, their final style being a Classicist one. The exhibition halls, located on two floors, are used for temporary exhibitions.
