Valdštejnská jízdárna, jako součást Valdštejnského paláce (The Waldstein Riding School, as part of the Waldstein Palace)
Built from 1623 to 1630, authors Andrea Spezza, Giovani Batista Pieroni and Nicola Sebregondi, Early Baroque architecture
Used by the National Gallery since 1950
The Riding School, at the eastern end the extensive Wallenstein Palace, is just as the palace an example of Early Baroque architecture. The side which faces the space accessible to the public has an austere façade with merely smallish windows on the first floor, the sole exception being an arched one in the centre of the ground floor. The side that looks onto the garden, on the other hand, has a distinctive arcade which links it with the other wings. The interior of the former riding school consists of a large hall space for temporary exhibitions.
