Interior of a Farmhouse with a Girl

Hippolyt Soběslav Pinkas

Hippolyt Soběslav Pinkas - Interior of a Farmhouse with a Girl
Pinkas painted village interiors and their inhabitants engaged in various chores. In all probability he painted these pictures in the vicinity of Rambouillet, where he lived for more than ten years. By the mid-sixties Pinkas wanted to present in his paintings realist pictures of reality and he adjusted correspondingly his brushwork. With broad strokes of the brush and pastose colours he painted the dark interiors of country cottages - the contrast with illuminated objects, indicated only with touches of colours, enabled him to create the impression of depth and an illusion of reality.
