A Young Breton Woman by the Sea - Shore

In addition to canvases with important topical subjects Čermák painted smalller pictures of a more intimate nature, not burdened with the theatricality and pathos of his large history and war compositions. Most of these pictures are from Brittany, where he used to spend his summers; with the resources of modern painting he produced realist views of the interiors of village cottages, of the life of local fishermen, as well as portraits of French villagers.
