Rocky Landscape with a Shepherdess and Goats

Drawing Rocky Landscape with a Shepherdess and Goats is based on a sketch in the Southern Italian sketchbook. While the drawing in the sketchbook comes across as very powerful thanks to combination of bare, rough rocks and only very lightly sketched figure, in the final version all these features are supressed. The addition of decorative vegetation, typified female figure and compositional scheme of pastoral idyll contributes to the overall conventional appearance of the scene.
