František Tkadlík - Study of three figures for the painting The Deluge
In The Deluge (1826) that was created during his stay in Rome, Tkadlík conceived the traditional Old Testament subject matter as an additive composition of almost mutually independent figure groups. Its monumental conception resembles the inluence of Michelangelo’s frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. The question remains as to the possible reflections of contemporary French Neoclassical and Romantic painting.
