Gaston Lachaise - Woman
In this sketch of a standing female nude with a drapery, the sculptor Gaston Lachaise (1882-1935) rendered the female body in simplified, geometrizing forms that correspond to his concept of low reliefs created in the Art Deco style. The masterful indication of the corporeal volume using only a few coloured pencil strokes is combined with the self-assured pose of the depicted nude adorned with a drapery.
