Winter Landscape with Ruins and a Chapel

August Bedřich Piepenhagen

August Bedřich Piepenhagen - Winter Landscape with Ruins and a Chapel
Piepenhagen was fond of painting nature in winter, especially in the 1830s and 1840s. Again and again he paraphrased specific landscapes with sparkling snow, created and invented ever new nooks on the banks of frozen lakes or rivers, near ruins in the woods, solitary chapels and cottages, snow-covered paths.
