Marcantonio Raimondi - engraver, Raffael - inventor - Christ the Saviour
Raimondi created a cycle of thirteen prints depicting Jesus Christ and the twelve apostles after Raphael’s drawings, which survive in the collections in Chatsworth. They also served as models for the decoration of the pilasters in the church San Vincenzo e Anastazio alle Tre Fontane in Rome. Raimondi’s graphic method in the latter case is more simple and linear and is more reminiscent of drawing instead of painting.
