This print depicts the Shrovetide festivities held regularly on Fat Thursday on the Piazza San Marco. The centre of the scene features a papier-maché structure, on which fireworks were set off at the end of the festivity. In the foreground, a group of artistes are building „a human pyramid“. One of the greatest attractions of these festivities was the „Flight of the Turk“ (Volo del Turco), where an acrobat descended on a rope from the Campanile tower and then handed the doge a bouquet of flowers and laudatory poems.
