Anton Birkhart - engraver, Jan Josef Dietzler - inventor - View of the Benedictine Monastery in Broumov
This impressive prospect of the Broumov (Braunau)monastery was produced by A. Birkhart, a talented and prolific Prague engraver, after a drawing by J. J. Dietzler, a Prague draughtsman and surveyor. The view was created as an appendix to the representative volume of Magnoald Ziegelbauer, devoted to the history of the Benedictine monastery at Břevnov in Prague – Epitome Historica… Monasterii Brevnoviensis (Cologne 1740). Dietzler executed a similar prospect of the abbey at Legnickie Pole (Wahlstatt)for the book. Both these engraved views are shown in the painting of Johann Peter Molitor from 1748, which is an allegorical celebration of Benno Löbl, the abbot of the Břevnov and Broumov monasteries.
