Charles Audran - engraver, Pietro da Cortona - inventor - Zeus Commanding the Winds
Charles Audran (1594-1674) was the founder of one of the most significant dynasties of French engravers. He stayed in Rome several times. The engraving most probably originates from his second Roman sojourn, dated as between 1632 and 1645. But regardless of the years spent in Italy, the major part of Audran’s oeuvre revolved around his native France.
