Wenceslaus Hollar - engraver, Jan van de Velde - inventor - Autumn from the cycle The Four Seasons
In 1629, Hollar did another cycle - The Four Seasons - after Jan van de Velde. Unlike the earlier series depicting a magnificent landscape inhabited by people earning their livelihood through hard work, this cycle shows rural dwellings and people engaged in leisure activities. This idealization of life is accompanied by pastoral texts.
