Arundel Castle

Wenceslaus Hollar

Wenceslaus Hollar - Arundel Castle
The imposing medieval castle located in Sussex County in southern England was formerly a Norman fort that belonged to the Howard noble family (Hollar's patron Thomas Howard, earl of Arundel belonged to the family) from the 16th century. Besides the fact that this was a part of the history of Hollar's employer, the artist was undoubtedly attracted by the scenery of the castle complex.
