Another set of five views of Tangier is of a somewhat more intimate nature than Various Views of Tangier a Prospects of Tangier series. Hollar selected visually closed scenes and particular landmarks, which he rendered from a closer distance. The fortified town’s towers and forts were named for members of the British royal family and distinguished personalities, such as Catherine Fort for the king’s wife and Peterborough Tower for Lord Peterborough.
