Anonymous artist - Incense burner in the shape of a seated woman
The seated beauty from Arita leans against her left hand, with her legs stretched forward and right hand holding a vase whose bottom rests on her legs. She is dressed in the uchikake kimono with a paulownia motif and circular medallions with motifs of a landscape with clouds or flowers, scrollwork and lozenge-shaped latticework. The undergarment bears painted bamboo stems and birds. The vase, too, bears paulownia decoration. Figures of seated beauties are rare in Czech collections and can only be found in the National Gallery in Prague.
