The term “tokuri” means “honest gain” or “honest interest”, or figuratively, “honest purpose”. Tokuri bottles are used in Japan mainly to store and pour sake. This tokuri sake bottle from Arita is decorated with an inscription in underglaze cobalt blue, specifically the character “ryū” meaning “dragon”.
