A copy of the traditional type of ceramics made by the old imperial workshops in Iga (15th–16th century); a hand-formed ceramic ware of light clay with natural ash glaze. The original wooden box with lid (30 x 25.5 x 25.5 cm) bears the following inscription: “Made on commission in May of the fifth year of the Taishō era” (1920) “as a gift for a friend named Yoshiyama Shōzaburō.”
