Arundel's House from the South

After moving to England, Wenceslaus Hollar, now in the service of his employer, settled in Arundel's home, which he then depicted. The design for the etching was created by the Dutch artist Adam Alexius Bierling (1625-1675), but the plates have all the qualities of Hollar's refined manner of etching. The view of the courtyards of Arundel's residence shows an interesting detail: in the right-hand corner are two men knocking on a door. Two paintings are seen leaning against a wall behind them, which are perhaps works from Arundel's collections. It tends to be observed that the building which the men wish to enter was the studio (Hollar's ?) where the artworks were catalogued and paintings copied in the form of drawings which then served as models for prints.
