Box for accoutrements decorated with landscape motif

The box is adorned with a typically stylized landscape, namely a sea coast dotted with pine trees, a symbol of permanence and resilience. As an evergreen tree, the pine is one of the three “Friends of Winter” (the other two are prunus and bamboo) and also a traditional decoration of Japanese theatre scenes or textiles.
