Radoslav Kratina - Horizontal Sticks I
Radoslav Kratina did graphic experiments and reliefs employing various structures of found elements, but in 1964, he unexpectedly created his first variable object composed of used matches, which could be transformed by pressure from a hand. He discovered the variability of a composition by manual manipulation as a new artwork quality. Kratina created transformable objects of geometric elements from 1965 to the 1990s. One of the first was a set of wooden sticks arranged horizontally in a frame, making it possible to shift them horizontally to alter the composition of red and white stripes.
